MY STYLE:
In the age of social media trends, A.I. editing, presets and filters it can be overwhelming to know what is real.
Sometimes the most difficult task is to capture your story as authentically as possible, while fighting the temptation to look like and experience someone else's story. The trending styles and experiences can be tempting--but are they you, really? As you look through my work you'll see there isn't a cohesion between every session--for one person there are dark and moody colors, while another it is light and airy. As an artist this is a tough but conscious choice I have made because until I meet you, spend time with you, eat pizza on your wedding day with you, watch a sunset and explore with you I don't pretend to know what is true of your style or experience. Through time together, conversations during your session, and sample edits we will discover what style and experience is the most authentically you.
What to expect:
"I'm not very good in front of a camera"
I have heard this for years, and admit to feeling the same about having my photo taken. The truth is you aren't actually bad at being in photos, but you aren't alone in thinking that about yourself. Traditional posing, mall studios, and endless school photo days did not help us in building our relationship with a camera. So when we are together we will have the opportunity to correct that thinking. Rather than standing stiff, uncomfortably posed, smile after smile--expect movement, talking, maybe even some dancing. Using a series of "prompts" we'll create an experience to tell a story rather than just a photoshoot. (This is what would be considered a "cinematic" or "editorial" style.)
I also typically don't set a time limit to our session (within reason) because for one person 30 minutes is more than enough, for another it takes a couple hours to relax enough to take photos they love. If we feel like friends by the end, and have photos you love I will consider it a success!
